Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Maria Otero's Travel to Honduras

Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Maria Otero will visit Tegucigalpa, Honduras August 3-4. While in Honduras, she will meet with senior Honduran government officials, human rights advocates, members of civil society, and the business community. She will be focusing on critical issues such as democratic governance, human rights, and women's empowerment, as well as global issues related to economic development, investment, and renewable energy. Under Secretary Otero is the highest ranking U.S. Department of State official to visit Honduras since the democratically elected government of President Lobo took office last January. Her visit reaffirms the strong bilateral relationship that the United States has with Honduras.
