Join us this Friday to celebrate the transformative power of art in the face of overwhelming adversity.

Moved by the military coup and the avalanche of human rights violations that continue to be perpetrated in Honduras, Dan Archer and Nikil Saval created a graphic novel that captures both the horrors and the hopes of the Honduran people as they awaken from their false democracy.

The comic originally appeared online in the Huffington Post and Alternet in three parts between October 2009 and January 2010. The first bilingual copies were printed in the U.S. in May.

On Friday, donations will be exchanged for a copy of the graphic novel, with proceeds going towards the first print run in Honduras, where it will be distributed as an alternative political education tool. Graffiti, documentaries, theater, and other forms of art have been a key source of strength for the pro-democracy opposition movement. And what better place is there in DC than BloomBars from where we can contribute to this artistic revival?

There will also be live music, drinks, and a video appearance by Dan Archer

$10-25 Suggested donation - Gets you a copy of the graphic novel, printed in both Spanish and English.

If you cannot attend but would like to contribute towards the first Honduran print run, send payment through PayPal to dan@archcomix.com with "DC loves Honduras" and a copy of the bilingual version of the Graphic Novel will be shipped to you.
