PUBLIC LETTER TO THE CIVIC COUNCIL OF POPULAR AND INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS OF HONDURAS, COPINH

The truth will only come out through the people's struggle to defend life, liberty, and the rights of Mother Earth

Dear compañeros and compañeros

I send my affectionate, humble and respectful greetings this July 20th, day dedicated to Lempira, the first symbol of national liberation.

Let us celebrate life every day, whether we face pain, suffering or happiness!

To celebrate is also to create historical memory of small victories and large injustices.

No honest participant in the popular movement can ignore that in the development of historical and social conscience in Honduras, COPINH has been present at the grassroots and leadership levels.

COPINH's spirit of solidarity has come down from the mountains, walking long hours, suffering hunger, challenging the terror and violence of the repressive forces of the State to arrive at the front lines where one risks one's life.

You have been present in the defense of the forests, confronting multinational corporations allied with the oligarchy that imprison the water in the dams, contaminate the land, rivers and air through exploitative mining.

You act with solidarity not just in the protection of your communities but also in the processes of small farmer agrarian transformation and in the fight for labor rights for the working class.

You are the first line of defense for human rights of the first nations and indigenous and small farming communities. In essence, the rights of Mother Earth.

Your praxis or strategy of practice has been centered in the historic unity of life and dignity of peoples. You have promoted and defended the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America.

You are shapers of the freedom of popular expression, you were the first to declare yourselves in favor of the Fourth Ballot Box and were protagonists in supporting the installation of a popular constituent constitutional assembly in the process of building people's power.

Founders of the National People's Resistance Frotn; you have contributes not just to the practice but also to the theory of the Refounding of the State of Honduras in the construction of a New Man and a New Woman.

The Lenca cosmovision has come through in the concepts and prectices of gender, and in the struggle against racism and militarism.

Today while we are drowning in military bases in Latin America, the brave voice of COPINH invites us to fight for the sovereignty of nations.

This short note about the significant contributions of out brothers and sisters of COPINH has as its object the recognition of your historic value in the popular movement.

You teach us all; not just through your courage but through your important theoretical contributions toward the liberation of Honduras.

We are fully confident in your steadfast dedication to the process of Refounding the State, and in the defense of the sovereignty of Honduras and Latin America.

For your practice of solidarity you have all the affection and respect of both the grassroots and the leadership of the National People's Resistance Front.

Brothers and sisters of COPINH, the people united embrace you on this heroic day of Lempira.

Thank you for giving me the honor of sharing historic moments and learning together with you the meaning of love, solidarity, and above all the great ethical and philosophical teachings of the ancestral nations.

La verdad solo se descubre cuando se lucha junto al pueblo y se defiende la vida, la libertad y los derechos de la Madre Tierra

Estimados compañeros y compañeros

Reciban un saludo con cariño, respeto, humildad este 20 de julio, dedicado a Lempira primer símbolo de la liberación Nacional.

¡Celebremos vida, cada día ante el dolor, sufrimiento y alegría!

Celebrar es también hacer memoria histórica de las pequeñas victorias y de las grandes injusticias.

Ningún participante honesto del movimiento popular puede desconocer que en el desarrollo de la conciencia histórica y social de Honduras, ha estado presente el COPINH con sus bases y dirigencia.

Su espíritu solidario se ha desplazado desde las montañas, caminado largas horas, soportado hambre, desafiado el terror y la violencia de las fuerzas represivas del Estado para llegar a las primeras líneas donde se arriesga la vida.

Han estado presentes en la defensa del bosque, enfrentado a las multinacionales aliadas con la oligarquía que encarcelan las aguas en las represas; contaminan suelos, ríos y aires mediante las explotaciones mineras.

Solidarios no sólo en la protección de sus comunidades sino también en los procesos de transformación agraria campesina y en la conquista de los derechos laborales de la clase obrera.

Defensores en primera línea de los derechos humanos de los pueblos originarios y comunidades indígenas y campesinas. En esencia los derechos de la Madre Tierra.

Su praxis o estrategia de la práctica ha estado centrada en la unidad histórica de la vida y dignidad de los pueblos. Han sido impulsores y defensores de la Alianza Bolivariana de los Pueblos de Nuestra América.

Constructores de la libertad de la expresión popular, fueron de los primeros en declararse partidarios de la Cuarta Urna y ser gestores de promover la instalación de la Asamblea Nacional Constituyente en el proceso de construcción del poder popular.

Fundadores del Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular; han contribuido no solo en la práctica sino también la teoría sobre la Refundación el Estado de Honduras por la construcción de un Hombre Nuevo y una Mujer Nueva.

La visión cósmica lenca, se ha hecho sentir en las concepciones y prácticas de género, en la lucha contra el racismo y el militarismo.

Hoy que estamos inundados por bases militares en América Latina, la Voz valiente del COPINH invita a luchar por la soberanía de los pueblos.

Este breve relato, de las contribuciones significativas de nuestros hermanos y hermanas del COPINH tiene por objeto hacer un reconocimiento a su valor histórico en el movimiento popular.

Maestros y maestras de todos nosotros; no solo por su coraje sino por sus aportaciones teóricas valiosas para la liberación de Honduras

Estamos plenamente seguros de su firmeza en el proceso de la Refundación del Estado, la defensa de la soberanía de Honduras y América Latina.

Por su práctica solidaria tienen todo el cariño y respeto tanto de la base como la dirigencia del Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular.

Compañeros y compañeras del COPINH, el pueblo unido los abraza en este día heroico de Lempira.

Gracias por sentirme honrado al compartir momentos históricos y aprender con ustedes el amor, la solidaridad y sobre todo las grandes enseñanzas éticas y filosóficas de los pueblos ancestrales.
